The Regional Organized Crime Information Center ® is experiencing an exciting period of transition as we begin the 21st Century. By utilizing state-of-the-art Internet technologies, ROCIC member agencies have faster and more convenient access to expanded ROCIC services. RISSNET ® now allows our member agencies to communicate not only with other ROCIC member agencies but with the five other RISS Centers across the nation.

One new example of our commitment to new technology, in addition to this World Wide Web site, is the RISS National Gang Database ®. Member agencies are able to search the crime-specific database directly, according to their own needs and schedules.

ROCIC was chosen by the RISS Centers to implement the National Gang Database, which is accessible to all RISS member agencies nationwide.

As in all our endeavors, strict security is maintained, in this case by use of encryption user hardware/software, and firewall technology. ROCIC members are not only able to submit and access information instantaneously, they are able to interact with each other over the Intranet network. This greatly enhances the communication and cooperation between our member agencies in the exchange of information.

For instance, information submitted for the ROCIC Bulletin is posted for membership perusal in a matter of hours rather than days or weeks.
